Orical
Orical combines adviser compliance consulting and managed monitoring with its REAL software platform. Services include registration, program documents, annual reviews, mock examinations, regulatory filings, ethics administration, trading and conflict reviews, electronic communications, training, and quarterly reporting. Separate legal representation is available through affiliated Florio Leahy LLP.
Overview
Orical provides compliance consulting, recurring monitoring, and proprietary software to investment advisers, private-fund managers, and broker-dealers. Its work spans registration, program documents, filings, testing, ethics, employee activity, communications, education, and regulatory examinations.
REAL World Compliance supplies the technology layer for selected administrative and monitoring functions. Orical is also affiliated with Florio Leahy LLP, but legal advice and privileged work require a separate law-firm engagement.
Who it may suit
Orical may suit an adviser that wants human compliance work and software configured around the same program. It is especially relevant where personal trading, conflicts, employee certifications, gifts, political contributions, communications, marketing materials, filings, and recurring tests create substantial administrative volume.
New firms can use the company for federal or state registration and initial documents. Operating RIAs can choose monitoring, mock examinations, periodic reporting, or individual projects. Firms seeking only occasional interpretation should assess whether the combined service-and-platform model is necessary.
RIA compliance services
Registration covers Form ADV, tailored policies, ethics documents, and related adviser filings. Other consulting services include risk assessment, policy drafting, annual reviews, mock examinations, actual examination support, employee education, CCO guidance, regulatory updates, and preparation or submission of SEC, CFTC, NFA, and FINRA reports.
Managed work includes quarterly monitoring reports, personal and firm trading review, conflicts and outside activities, electronic-message sampling, employee forms and certifications, restricted lists, gifts, political contributions, and marketing records. REAL adds account tracking, preclearance, ethics administration, compliance calendars, books-and-records workflows, forensic trading review, monitoring, and risk-management functions.
How the engagement works
Orical describes fixed-fee registration and project work as well as monthly flat-rate consulting and monitoring. The services can combine consultant review, recurring administration, reporting, and REAL access according to the client’s program.
The platform is built on Relativity and accompanied by technical support. Public materials do not fully separate software licensing, implementation, consulting hours, monitoring volume, or customization fees, so those components should be itemized in the proposal.
What stands out
Orical’s distinction is not software alone, but the way its consultants use REAL to administer repeatable controls. Employee activity, communications, ethics, conflicts, records, calendars, and testing can share a technology layer while professionals apply the firm’s policies and risk profile.
The explicit corporate boundary with Florio Leahy is also important. Clients can coordinate compliance and counsel, but they should not assume Orical or REAL work is legally privileged merely because the businesses are affiliated.
What to clarify before contacting
Separate the Orical consulting agreement, REAL license, and any Florio Leahy legal engagement. Confirm assigned professionals, review cadence, testing samples, findings, escalation, remediation, examination responsibilities, filing approvals, service levels, and fees for expanded work.
Technology diligence should cover implementation, Relativity dependencies, integrations, brokerage and archive connections, permissions, encryption, retention, incident response, audit trails, support, portability, and export. Ask which decisions require human approval and how exceptions, false positives, policy changes, and software updates are documented.
